COVID-19 Self Distancing Week 13 Recap

Week 13 and the start of Summer! It's hard to believe that it is going to officially be 100 days for me of self distancing this upcoming week. I struggled mentally this week with all the stories of people being out with their families and friends and doing stuff I love. I am trying to stay in my line and focus in on the positive things I am doing instead of what I am missing out on. I know for my health this is the best path for me but dang I want to go to family BBQ parties.

What I learned:
  • I love our CSA basket-- I cannot go to the farmers markets this year so getting local produce delivered is a game changer for us with this option with a local farm. I am learning to really get creative with veggies!
  • I really get small joy out of the flowers in my garden. See some of the pictures I took this year.
  • You should get a hammock!
  • There is a path that loops all around the green bay area starting on the east river trail for biking. If half of it was not under water it would be perfect right now.

Washed my bike up!
My garden is so beautiful this year.
Who is watching who? Stella watching our yard chipmunk chip chip.

I made Ryan curry fries. He loved them.

taco bowls.

Our CSA veggies!

Yummy granola and oatmeal.

When in doubt--- stir fry!

The boss has arrived.

Ryan took a cooking class. See what he created below.

Love my hammock.

While others are spending quality time with their families and ignoring health orders... I am over here resizing my watch bands for 2 hours.
I made Ryan M&M cookies.

Pasta-- local-- veggies--local

ALZ longest day ever!

My roses are crazy awesome this year.

Found this on our bike ride Sunday.

I love farmers stands. A safe way for me to get local goods!

I really hope you are all staying safe. COVID-19 diagnosis numbers are increasing and around us local business's are closing again due to infections. Wear a mask-- stay 6 ft apart-- do not go out to things you do not have to go to to limit exposure. I will continue to stay safe I hope you do too!

Until next time~

COVID-19 Self Distancing Week 12 Recap

Another week in 100% self distancing completed! I promise I am trying to not count the days but make the days count like Muhammad Ali says too. I had a lot of good food last week when I look back on my week. Like 99% of my pictures are food or music festival related which cool. It was a little strange to go to one of my favorite music festivals virtually. We tried to make it the best experience we could hanging up our hammocks and watching a TV in the backyard. Even having a fire the second night. Outside of my family/friends I miss live music the most. Usually Ryan and I go to about 60 concerts a year and here we are having gone to 3 this year total before COVID-19 happened. Such a strange time to be alive.

I love food. Made this.

The best sorbet and gelato.
Ribs are a labor of love but so worth the work.

Cheesesteak!

It was a great virtual festival!

my 2017 Blue Ox shirt.

Angry coworker when mom has to type in stead of pet.

Mason Brothers Red Owl has banging take out fish!

Night one on the couch and watching the show!

Bread pudding for two!

Love my blue ox memories.

We biked for our lunch to Scotts subs. Yum!

Hammocks finally hung up on the new stand.

2017 hat and 2019 shirt. Can you tell I love Blue Ox?

To stop a sneaky cat from running away and allow her to enjoy the outside with us? Dog crate worked awesome.

Pure BLISS

I mean I cooked the damn potatoes in the fire and they turned out great. Music and fire!

Yes. Dream life... activated.

We went to the botanical gardens the longest I have ever worn my mask. Not my favorite thing to have to do but I dealt with it to see the flowers.

WOW.

I love brining and roasting chickens. This was so good!
I am being safe and staying healthy in this time of COVID-19. I hope you are too!

Until next time~

COVID-19 Self Distancing Week 11 Recap

Last week was intense. Not only was it my first week in my new position we had civil revolution going on and COVID-19 is still a thing. I have learned a lot in the past week.

  • I have been blinded by my white privilege. If you disagree with me you are most likely still blinded by yours and I challenge you to listen to the black community more to see it. I highly recommend watching the 13th on Netflix or the Podcast I have tagged at the end of this post. I am working on being a better ally to the black community and I need to put the work in. I need to listen and I need to learn. That is my goal right now.
  • Please people can you wear some dang masks in public. I get if you are actively eating you cannot do that but think about that nothing has changed with COVID-19. The world health organization and CDC recommend it. You wear a mask to not protect you but to protect people like me that are high risk. Have you ever researched what being on a ventilator looks like? Look it up. You will be on your stomach most likely for an extended period of time and can suffer lung damage. My lungs due to COPD are already damaged and cannot handle much more. I do not want to scare people but please wear a mask if you can.
  • I love adventuring. I mean I have spent more time this year in WI because of travel restrictions and it has been awesome. I am finding these little gems like the green loop in Steven's Point and lakes/rivers to paddle in. I truly live in a beautiful place and I am grateful for the push for me to stay more local.
  • I continue to support local small businesses. It is getting harder as a large population of the dining service industry is going back to living as if the world is "normal". Ryan is finding when picking up carryout a lot of business's do not wear masks and there is little distancing in places. It is a bit  scary for those of us trying to protect ourselves. I will continue to try to support business though as I want them to do well.
  • I am making sure to recharge my batteries if you will. Make sure you take care of yourselves out there in this crazy world.

Have to be prepared with COVID-19 when in public!

WED I went and bought my flowers for my garden at a local green house.

Finally planted the front garden with some more plants.

Sara Gelato--- Yum

Ready to support and walk!

The Green Loop 26 miles of beauty.
