The Saga of Bobby The Turkey

Let me start by saying this is a rather silly story. There has been a turkey living by my house in the road for like over a month. I tried to do the best I  could calling the non-emergency number on "Bobby" the turkey numerous times to try to get the DNR to rehome him but they never did what I asked. The lady on the non-emergency line always thought I was crazy and that he would "go away" on his own..... Anyway I called about two times and gave up. Never knowing that Bobby is internet famous until this very day. I have talked about him to my friends and my friend Chad sent me a posting by the Green Bay Police department that he was finally relocated!

Look at this cute little sassy bugger! This is by my house of course. I honestly think he has some screws lose in his little brain. Poor guy.

This is where the story gets REAL crazy. He has a Facebook page folks. It is hilarious.

It is just too funny to not share this story about him and how he is now so famous in the area.

We will not miss you Bobby (Smoked Turkey). Good luck at your future home that will hopefully not be a busy roadway!

Until next time~

Chicken Gyros

Yum. Yummy. Yum.

Ryan asked for gyros last week and I will be real buying the "kit" from festival is expensive so I decided to make these myself from scratch. I have made them before but having my food processor made the process a breeze. This was fresh and semi healthy which is always something I need if I have a beer and burger during a Packer game earlier in the day. So here is the recipe and I hope you enjoy it. Trust me I have a little cold I cannot kick and I was able to throw this together.

What you need~
chicken tenderloins
2 cups of greek yogurt (whole fat if you can get it)
2 cucumbers
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 limes (juiced)  or  1 lemon
1 bundle of fresh dill
Onion sliced
Feta cheese
Pitas
Curry seasoning
Salt and Pepper

Start by putting your yogurt in a mixing bowl. In the food processor shred one of the cucumbers after removing the skin off of it. In a large bowl put paper towel and then the cucumber on top of it. Squeeze as much water out of the shredded cucumber as you can. This will help keep your tzatziki sauce thick. Put this cucumber in the bowl with the yogurt. Change your food processor from the shred plate to the chop insert. Add the dill bundle, juice and garlic and turn the processor on. I always want the dill really fine before I add it to the cucumber/yogurt mix in the bowl. Salt and pepper this and mix it well. Set that aside. Cut up your onion and the other cucumber and set that aside.

Cook your chicken I seasoned mine with salt, pepper and curry powder. Set aside. I brushed my pita with a little olive oil and heated them up on the grill.

Time to get those gyros all together. Take your warm pita and top with the chicken ( I would cut it up a bit), onion, cucumber slices, feta cheese and tzatziki sauce.

HINT: You can now buy pita in the grocery store I got mine at Meijer.

These are so tasty and I am happy I have a couple left over. I know it is not the tasty lamb people are used to but that tzatziki sauce needs to be on EVERYTHING.

Until next time~

Cilantro Lime Rice

My favorite. I mean I know I have a lot of favorites but I realized this week I make this all the time and never have posted anything about it. HOW is that possible? Anyway this is a knock off of Chipotle's cilantro lime rice because I just love it so much. Really easy to throw together too.

What you need~

2 cups rice (any kind you want I use Jasmine)
3 cups water
handful of chopped cilantro
about two limes worth of juice

Super easy cook your rice and toss the cilantro and lime in before serving. Like literally the easiest thing ever but does it really jazz up rice. I love to serve it with spicy curry to cool my mouth down a bit. Try it soon you will not regret it at all.

YUM!

Until next time~

Walk For Wildlife

How fun was this event! I got really lucky as the sub in for my friend Laura's wife (also named Emily) who could not make it to this event. I loved it so much I need to go back next year. I mean where else do you get to pet wild animals, learn about them and help them all at the same time.

Here are some of the highlights from our walk on Saturday.

They started the event by releasing this guy into the wild!

A soft skunk. Honestly all the animals felt like my dog Luna's fur which was interesting.

A chubby little groundhog.

The smallest little falcon.

Lucy and Ricky.

Lucy painted a painting I bought so I was excited to meet her in person.

His name is Zorro. :)

Laura and I were able to feed him grapes super smart Raven.

I saw this little sweetie Petunia on the TV earlier in the week and was so excited to pet her. So soft.

Just taking a nap.

Be still my heart. My favorite. This little lady recently had her wing removed due to an accident. She was so beautiful.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

No big deal just pet these deer like dogs.

This eagles name is Liberty.
I am so going to this next year. Let me know if you want to come with. With your registration you get a good walk in, some free food and a cool shirt. It was a BLAST!

Until next time~

Simple Ponzu Salad

YUM! I may have a slight addiction to ponzu..... Do you know what that is? It is like soy sauce and lime had a baby. I wish I could put it on everything if I could in reality. I have been lately using it in place of dressing. I really love the flavor it gives salads without over powering them. Anyway you can really throw any veggies in this salad I just used fresh veg from my mom's garden this week.

What you need~
Cherry tomatoes (cut in half)
1 medium cucumber (diced)
Tofu (diced)
GOOD Parmesan cheese (about 1/4 cup)
Salt & pepper to taste
Ponzu

As always I do not give you exact measurements. It is a salad so you can add as much of each item as you see fit. I have included some pictures below that give you ideas and tips on to make the perfect salad!

Finished project.

This works best if you soak the veggie they get slightly soft and pickled a bit.

TIP: Drain your tofu over the sink.

Diced and ready for ponzu!

Fresh from the garden.

Little balls of yum. Make sure to cut them in half so they soak up some of the ponzu.
This was a refreshing salad using up that seasonal produce. I hope you get adventurous and try Ponzu it is soooo good. Find it in the Asian or ethnic food aisle of the store.

Until next time~

Yelp Event: Yelp’s Comfy Couch Cinema

This was super fun!

Here is a LINK to my review or read it below and enjoy some fun pictures:

5.5 review:
Okay... I have literally never seen "The Goonies" which at some point becomes really embarrassing I know. ANYWAY enough about me how about this cool event? From the little popcorn holders to the beers being offered it was extra special. How often does one get to go to a furniture store and watch a movie, sit on brand new furniture and drink a beer?

I had such a blast and learned about a cool business that offers awesome furniture at really competitive rates.
Beer and popcorn.
Yum!
SO much swag.
Are we not cute?
THE GOONIES.

Katelyn and I chilling on the couches.

Until next time~

Travel Adventures: Birthday Week 2018!

I just had the best birthday week off from work. I rarely take off so needless to say I needed some time away from work and also had to use up some PTO. Here are some of my favorite high lights from my week.

I made chili for the Packer game. :)

Tried to stay active went for a lovely bike ride.

YELP event with my YELP friends. Kate and I pictured.

Steve Miller Band. Perfect night for a concert.

Progress picture of the bedroom tables we are refinishing. Work in progress.

We cuddled. A lot. Stella.

Plums from my family tree and apples from a friends farm.

Little begger asking for my favorite Chipotle. On my birthday.

Stay WILD!

My friends treated me to ice cream in Crivitz while thrift shopping. Turtle my favorite flavor!

I mean is this not a breath taking flower. :)

I am obsessed with these at my friends farm.

My mom and I went shopping all day Tuesday. These are cute!

At World Market... Gross.

We lounged around a bit this past week.

Tofu and noodles was a great success. My version of a chicken parm.

My feet where so dirty after moving rocks, laying 2,600 pounds of dirt and planting grass.

All the plants I planted.

Went to Liz's housewarming party and grilled all the meat. yum!

No caption needed.... but for real.

YUM!
It was a truly wonderful week of time with friends/family mixed with being productive around my house and relaxing just a tad. Now back to work!

Until next time~
